Biblical Love

For this past week, the theme of our morning devotional has been Biblical Love.
I have been challenged by this as Biblical Love is something I often struggle with.
What I have learned is that the love that The Lord describes is so different to what we often regard love as being. Love is not an emotion, but a sacrificial action that takes place from one person to another.

Just this morning we read 1 Corinthians 13. Understanding that you can do any good deed, but if it is not motivated by love, those deeds are futile.
In particular we read between verses 4 to 7 which are as follows:

Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

One of the things we did to try and reinforce these scriptures was to replace each of our names for the word love.
I think this exercise proved to each of us just how high and holy Biblical Love is!

Thanks be to God, that we are able to love in the way He intended, by submitting to His Spirit daily through prayer, reading of the Word and considering His ways.

Lord bless!
